Description
Overview
The BendPak Ranger R980XR is a swing-arm tire changer with a 30 inch turntable and a rigid, fixed tower. It installs close to the wall and handles everyday passenger, pickup, and SUV wheels quickly without the footprint of a tilt-back machine.
This is the space-saving alternative to the assist-tower R980AT. A high-torque electric turntable and dual pneumatic bead-breaker move tires through the bay at a controlled speed, and the included non-marring duck heads cover a wide range of wheels. It works well as a primary changer or a backup to a more specialized machine.
Key Features
- Swing-arm design - mounts near the wall to save floor space in tight bays.
- 30 inch clamping capacity - RimGuard clamps run 10 to 30 inches inside and 9 to 28 inches outside.
- 3 HP electric turntable - reversible, controlled drive at 220 VAC for clean tire removal and installation.
- Dual pneumatic bead-breaker - bilateral accelerators with a stainless cylinder for fast, corrosion-free operation.
- TurboBlast bead seating - an eight-gallon surge tank drives quick, repeatable bead seating.

Who It's For
A space-conscious primary or backup machine for general repair shops servicing mostly passenger, pickup, and SUV tires. Plan for a 220V single-phase circuit and a shop air supply of 140 to 165 PSI. A 110V option is offered separately.
Shipping and Freight
This machine ships on a pallet and requires freight handling. A forklift or dock makes receiving easier. Use the Request a Freight Quote path for liftgate and residential options. Handling and transit are confirmed at order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose a swing arm over a tilt-back?
A swing-arm machine like the R980XR installs closer to the wall and saves floor space. The duck head is adjusted between wheel sets, which is a fair trade for shops mostly running similar passenger and light truck tires.
What is the clamping range?
RimGuard clamps cover 10 to 30 inches internally and 9 to 28 inches externally, with a 15 inch maximum rim width and a 50 inch maximum tire diameter.
Can I add an assist tower later?
The R980 swing-arm series supports an assist tower; the R980AT ships with it as standard. The R980XR is the no-assist configuration.
What power and air does it need?
It runs on a 3 HP motor at 220 VAC, 50/60 Hz, and needs a shop air supply of 140 to 165 PSI.
Does it protect alloy wheels?
Yes. A polymer mount and demount head is included alongside the alloy-steel head to protect fragile rims from metal-to-metal contact.
